Aqua Leak Detection recommends combining the L-Series with an Australian made "Thumper"

It's important to locate leaks as quickly as possible but when you struggle to find where the plastic water pipe is even located, it becomes frustrating and wastes precious time. The thumpers simply click onto any tap and conveniently powered by your own cordless tool battery, create a thump in the pipe which can be easily picked up with any acoustic listening equipment. There is no quicker way to establish where the pipe has been buried, especially on large or older properties.

The "Little Thumpa" by the Australian family run business Water Leak Solutions works well hand in hand with our L-Series Acoustic leak detectors.

Description

The LITTLE THUMPA has been developed and built-in Australia. It generates a pulse or a noise in the water pipe which can easily be picked up with the use of an acoustic listening device. This sound can be detected at depths well in excess of 1m and for for more than 100m in length depending on the soil type. It is suitable for domestic pipes up to 50mm in diameter although it has been used on larger pipes with some success. The water flow through the device is minimal but enough to generate a very loud thump. The Thumpa is fitted out with a brass female click-on tap connector and a brass male connector underneath enabling a waste hose to be attached to drain away used water. The device is water-resistant so if there's a leaky valve on the tap with water running everywhere it will have no effect on the thumper's performance. All electronics inside the case are sealed in resin making the unit very reliable.

Power source

The Thumpa requires 12v power and to make it easier, we recommend using your own 18v cordless tool battery with one of our adapters fitted with a 12v outlet socket and USB outlet for charging your phone. We have adapters for Milwaukee 18v and 12v, Makita, Hitachi, Dewalt, Bosch, and Metabo. We also have Lithium Iron Power Banks which can do the job but shipping restrictions make them not possible to send by air freight. If you don’t use any of these brands, please make an inquiry and we can work out another option.
